How do I do what I do?

I don't think I'm the only one who wonders what is going to end up on the blank canvas. I rarely plan the end of a painting but rather let it develop, like a relationship. Here's an example, one that I call "Blessed." I started with a rough figure sketch and it ended up a couple!
